Saudi Saggai: a desert gem with a unique texture
While most of the world knows Medjool or Ajwa, connoisseurs in Saudi Arabia speak with respect about a variety that remains almost unknown in Europe—Saggai. These dates offer a top-tier gourmet experience thanks to their fascinating play of textures and a refined flavor you won’t find in any other variety.
1. The secret of contrasting textures in one fruit
Saggai are famous for their distinctive texture profile. Harvested in the Rutab stage, they gain exceptional juiciness and a complex structure:
• The outer part is firmer with pronounced notes of plums and raisins • The inner part is soft, tender, and perfectly juicy with a full fruity taste
That contrast in a single bite creates an unforgettable experience—starting with an intense layer reminiscent of ripe plums and raisins, then moving into a creamy, tender core. It’s like tasting several flavor layers in one date.
2. A balanced flavor for demanding gourmets
Unlike aggressively sweet varieties, Saggai offers a more restrained, balanced taste with plum-and-raisin character. This refined profile makes Saggai an ideal pairing for Arabic coffee with cardamom or a strong espresso—its complexity complements coffee bitterness without overpowering it.
3. Rarity and luxury—dates for special occasions
In Saudi Arabia, Saggai are valued as a symbol of luxury and respect. They are often served at engagements, weddings, and important family gatherings.
At special collector and connoisseur auctions, exceptional specimens can reach up to EUR 200 per kilogram—a testament to their rarity and prestige in the Arab world.
In Europe, they are virtually impossible to find—most production stays in Saudi Arabia and neighboring Gulf countries. That’s why their availability in Czechia is a truly unique opportunity.
4. Natural quality from the Al-Qassim oases
Just like Medjool Rutab, Saggai comes from the renowned Al-Qassim region, where:
• Mineral-rich soil shapes their signature profile • Extreme desert heat by day and cool nights create ideal conditions for their unique texture • Traditional farming with individual care for each palm ensures top quality
Thanks to the optimal climate, Saggai in the Rutab stage keeps its natural juiciness and softness without any treatment, steaming, or added syrups.
Important note: Saggai Rutab is rare even within Saudi Arabia, and in Europe it’s an absolute specialty. If you want dates that surprise you with uniqueness and refined taste, Saggai is the right choice.

Product origin: the heart of Arab tradition in Al-Qassim
These premium Saggai dates come from the fertile oases of Al-Qassim in central Saudi Arabia. This area is globally known as the “garden of dates” and is home to some of the rarest batches, cultivated exclusively in this region.
Why is Al-Qassim so special?
Ideal microclimate: A unique combination of hot desert sun and rich underground springs creates conditions you won’t find elsewhere. The region has over 8 million date palms and produces more than 370,000 tons of dates per year. These conditions give Saggai its characteristic two-tone appearance and delicate texture.
Generational heritage: Our dates come from farms with long-standing traditions where know-how is passed down through generations. Each fruit is the result of careful hand picking and strict selection.
Home of prestigious auctions: Al-Qassim hosts the world’s largest date festival (Buraidah Date Festival), where over 300,000 tons of dates are traded. Auctions there see top-quality batches reaching daily sales up to USD 5 million.
While most production stays locally as a national treasure, we bring you a chance to taste the best straight from these renowned farms—in authentic quality that delivers freshness and depth of flavor.

Important notice: pit and safety
• Naturally with a pit: Dates are delivered in their authentic, unprocessed form and each fruit contains one pit. Thanks to the soft texture, the pit is easy to remove by hand or with a light cut.
• Children and safety: When serving to children, use extra caution. Always remove the pit before eating. For small children, it’s safer to cut the date lengthwise and then into smaller pieces.
Storage and shelf life: how to keep freshness without chemicals
Our dates are a 100% natural product with no chemical treatment or preservatives. To keep the taste and ideal texture:
• After delivery: Transfer to an airtight container and place in the refrigerator.
• Best freshness in the fridge (+5 to +7 °C): They stay perfect for at least 3 months.
• Odor protection: Dates absorb aromas easily—sealed storage is key.
• Long-term storage (up to 1 year): You can freeze them. At -18 to -20 °C they remain in ideal condition for 12 months.
• Serving culture: For everyday use, a nice glass jar with a lid looks great and helps prevent moisture loss, keeping each bite juicy.
